I was demoing VTES in Santa Cruz for the first time in a long time and was impressed with how effective my !Trem wall did against the other S&B dom/obt deck I set up. I don't use a ton of permacept usually, but I had a Guardian Angel and an Abbott in the deck to have a couple solid defensive permanents. Both did very well without crushing my opponent. This made me think about how good the card Abbott is. The only requirement is that the vampire be Sabbat in order to get +1 intercept vs D actions, usually the stealthiest kind in a stealth deck around here. I tried to think of a deck that could take advantage of the card pretty well(with weenies) and came up with this:
4x Ingrid Russo 4 DOM for
Sister Evelyn 3 aus dom
saiz 3 aus dom
ember wright 3 aus dom
cameron 3 dom pot
brooke 3 dom tha
sampson 2 dom
christine boscacci 2 dom vic(her flaw sucks for this, she could maybe be a 1 cap dork)
royce 1 dom
90 Cards
Master: 11
KRCG
WMRH
Rumor Mill
wall street night
2xWider View
2x Dreams
2x Rotschreck
Barrens
Actions: 26
5x Govern(Ingrid gets you a free minion while you dig for another)
10x Generic rush
5x Abbott
3x Graverobbing
2x Embrace
Gregory Winther
Action Modifiers: 2
2x Foreshadowing Destruction
Reactions: 9
8x Deflection(add your stealth, then get bounced!)
Delaying Tactics
Combat: 30
12x Concealed Weapon
12x Dragon's Breath Rounds
4x Fake-Out
2x Autonomic Mastery
Equipment: 12
12x Saturday Night Special
This doesn't seem like enough DBRs or Concealed Weapons, nor enough rush. Maybe -2 Embrace for +2 Haven Uncovered? What do you all think?

You need Aranthebes. I don't know that Wider View will be doing enough for you to justify it's inclusion, your crypt being fairly diverse as it is. Add Specialization.
ReplyDeleteSubstitute the 4 Fake Outs for an additional Concealed/DBR/SNS trinity. The additional maneuver is much too situational.

Edit: I forgot that I had 2x autonomic mastery, wall street night and a 2nd wider view in there.
ReplyDeleteAranthebes is a good call since this version doesn't feature fame. I saw the Wider View as helping get guys other than extra copies of Ingrid when I pay one to decrypt. With 4 copies, I'm very likely to get one in the opening draw and a second within the next couple crypt cards. I think I prefer Dreams to Specialization for this deck because of the need for rush + conceal + SNS + DBR. Fake-out isn't strictly necessary, it could be cut.
I think that Abbot would be good in a different weenie Dominate deck, particularly Aim+Chain or I Don't Do Anything. It doesn't look good here.
ReplyDeleteYour deck looks like it forgot what it's supposed to be doing. Weenie DBR without enough Graverobbing to be good is going to be the worst kind of deck: that which looks so strong that the table kills it, but which isn't actually strong enough to take on the table. As it stands, lowballing the Graverobs and putting in stuff that dilutes the central purpose for the deck to exist makes it less likely that rush/Concealed/popgun/DBR will do anything other than annoy your opponents, as you've got no real follow-up for that combo.
To answer your question about ratios, the factory standard is 13x each of rush, Concealed and SNS, in a 70-card library.
